Carol Rewick positioned to lead 3rd annual Turkey Trot at Solano Coummunity College
Solano County, CA - Interested 5K and 10K Solano Turkey trot race participants are encouraged to register online at www.solanoturkeytrot.org to take advantage of the $25 5K and $35 10K early race registration discounts, expiring this Saturday, October 1st. On Thanksgiving morning, November 24, 2011, Solano Hearts United will host the third annual Solano Turkey Trot 5K waln/run and 10K run beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Solano Community College.
Four Solano County nonprofits are focused on continuing the 85% annual growth of the Solano Turkey Trot. In the first two years, over 1,100 Solano residents have joined participants from Contra Costa, Napa, Sacramento, Sonoma and Yolo Counties. To help with the next phase of event growth, event leaders introduced local resident Carol Rewick, who is both a Registered Dietitian and a Wellness and Sports Nutrition specialist, as the Race Director for the 2011 Solano Turkey Trot in Suisun Valley
Ms. Rewick has owned and managed Fleet Feet Sports, Vacaville for seven years. When she's not running the store, she says she spends time with her beautiful daughters and enjoys socializing with her fiancée, winemaker John Gilpin.
She shares, “I'm passionate about health and fitness and my goal is simply to make this year's Solano Turkey Trot a top-rate event for all participants.” Ms. Rewick has been active through running, walking, and triathlon events for 25 years and has participated in over 100 races ranging from 5Ks to 50-mile Ultra marathons. Her experience is sure to make this Thanksgiving Day run what she expects will be “a memorable event, both for those walking for fitness or those running for a personal record.”
The Solano Hearts United coalition includes Children's Nurturing Project, Heather House, Meals on Wheels of Solano County, and Mission Solano. With a goal to raise funds and increase awareness for important local social services, Solano Turkey Trot proceeds will help the charities serve low-income, disadvantaged children, adults and seniors living in Solano County, at a time of unprecedented need.
Race director Carol Rewick and representatives from the four partner organizations are available for interviews. Contact Rod Malloy, Mission Solano (707.580.8490 / rod@missionsolano.org) or Carol Rewick, Fleet Feet Vacaville ( carol@fleetfeetvacaville.com )
